Former K-pop Star DJ Yesong Sentenced to 8 Years for Fatal DUI Incident
Ahn Ye Song, former member of the K-pop group INSTAR and now known as DJ Yesong, has been sentenced to eight years in prison following a fatal driving under the influence (DUI) accident. The incident occurred in February when DJ Yesong, with a blood alcohol level of 0.221%, struck a motorcyclist in Gangnam, Seoul, resulting in the death of a 50-year-old delivery worker. Reports revealed that she caused the accident while fleeing the scene of an earlier collision.
Initially, DJ Yesong was sentenced to ten years for the incident, which included allegations of leaving the scene without offering assistance. However, following an appeal by both the defendant and the prosecutor, her sentence was reduced to eight years. DJ Yesong also reportedly reached a settlement with the victim’s family, although the details remain confidential.
Before her legal troubles, Ahn Ye Song was a member of the fourth-generation girl group INSTAR, which was formed in 2016 by Inter B.D. Entertainment. After the group’s disbandment, she transitioned to a career as a DJ, adopting the stage name DJ Yesong.
