BUNKIE, LA — Khy Winbush, a former juvenile justice specialist at the Acadiana Center for Youth in Bunkie, was arrested after an internal investigation by the Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) revealed allegations of an inappropriate relationship with a youth offender.
Winbush, 24, from Lake Charles, was taken into custody by the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office. She faces charges of malfeasance in office, sexual misconduct, and possession of a Schedule II narcotic — specifically one hydrocodone pill.
The alleged misconduct was uncovered during an internal investigation conducted on May 6. As a result of the findings, Winbush was immediately terminated from her role. She had been employed with the OJJ since July 8, 2024.
The OJJ is responsible for overseeing youth who have been adjudicated delinquent or designated as Families in Need of Services (FINS), ensuring their supervision and care through residential placements or secure care facilities.
The investigation remains ongoing.
