Former Hinds County Sheriff Marshand Crisler Sentenced for Bribery

Crisler receives 30 months in prison for bribery and felony-related charges

Marshand Crisler, the former sheriff of Hinds County, Mississippi, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in a bribery scandal. Crisler, who was indicted on two felony counts, was sentenced to thirty months for each count, with a total of three years of supervised probation. He was also fined $15,000.

The charges stem from an incident in 2022, where Crisler accepted $9,500 in bribes from convicted felon Tonarri Moore. In exchange, Crisler promised to hire Moore at the Hinds County Penal Farm and relocate Moore’s cousin from an unsafe unit at the Raymond Detention Center.

Moore, who has a lengthy criminal record, had been convicted of manslaughter in 1996 and later faced additional criminal charges, including conspiracy and possession of controlled substances. The case was uncovered through a WLBT News investigation, which revealed Moore’s extensive criminal history.
