CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. — A former Dunn school principal is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly breaking into a home in Stella, according to court documents.
Heather Findeisen Cole, of Hodges Chapel Road in Dunn, was charged by the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office with second-degree burglary, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony conspiracy, and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.
Onslow County Schools confirmed that Cole previously served as principal at Dixon Middle School from July 1, 2022, until resigning on Jan. 5, 2026.
Investigators allege that Cole broke into a residence intending to commit larceny and took items including pillows, blankets, a power washer, and a Hisense television, valued at approximately $500. Court documents state she conspired with George Eric Cole to commit the alleged crimes.
Additionally, Heather Cole is accused of possessing stolen items knowing, or having reasonable grounds to believe, they were stolen.
Both Heather and George Eric Cole posted $10,000 secured bonds on Feb. 11. Their next court appearance is scheduled for March 6, 2026.
Release orders stipulate that the Coles must have no contact with the victim until the case is resolved.
Charges pending against the Coles include second-degree burglary, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony conspiracy, and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
