Former American Idol contestant Antonella Barba, 38, has been arrested in New Jersey for violating her federal probation following a domestic violence charge, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Barba, who competed in Season 6 of American Idol and later appeared on Fear Factor, was sentenced to 45 months in federal prison in 2019 for possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute. After her 2021 release, she was placed on five years of supervised probation.
However, law enforcement reports that Barba was charged with domestic violence two weeks ago, which led to a warrant for her arrest. She was taken into custody Sunday and later released under home detention, with a court order prohibiting contact with her ex-partner (K.H.), with whom she has had a “tumultuous relationship,” according to court records.
This is not Barba’s first run-in with the law since her release. In February, she was arrested in California for trespassing after refusing to leave a hotel.
Her legal troubles began in 2018, when she was caught delivering nearly two pounds of fentanyl as part of a drug trafficking operation. She later admitted it was the “biggest mistake of her life.”
Barba’s next court appearance has yet to be announced.
