OREM, Utah (ABC4) — Quincy Pierre, 23, a Florida man, has been arrested in connection with a multi-state fraud ring that targeted vehicles in childcare facility parking lots to steal victims’ identities, Orem Police announced.
Pierre was first apprehended on Dec. 11, 2025, after a traffic stop where he allegedly fled in a vehicle, prompting a police pursuit that was later called off for safety reasons. He was initially charged with obstruction of justice, possession of a controlled substance, and failure to stop at the command of police, and remains held without bail.
During the investigation, authorities obtained search warrants for Pierre’s phone and a rental vehicle, uncovering evidence linking him to the fraud ring. Investigators allege the group entered parked vehicles at childcare centers, stealing state IDs, checks, and financial documents. These stolen items were reportedly used by co-conspirators to cash fraudulent checks, resulting in losses exceeding $20,000, not including damaged property.
Police said GPS data, cell phone records, and rental vehicle tracking helped corroborate the locations of the vehicle burglaries across Utah. Authorities are continuing to pursue additional suspects involved in the scheme.
Pierre was arrested a second time on Jan. 5, 2026, after additional charges were filed in connection with the fraud ring. He is scheduled for a waiver hearing on Jan. 13, 2026, in Utah County.
Orem Police emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activity in parking lots and securing personal documents to prevent identity theft and fraud.
