Dave Zorn, the well-known news director for KAFF News in Flagstaff, Arizona, was arrested on March 27, 2025, on suspicion of luring a minor for sexual exploitation. Zorn, a familiar voice in northern Arizona with over three decades in radio, is currently being held at the Coconino County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
Flagstaff Police have not released further details about the case but have confirmed they will make a statement soon. Zorn was booked late Thursday evening, according to a jail booking report.
Upon learning of his arrest, KAFF News immediately placed Zorn on administrative leave and restricted his access to the station’s facilities, social media, and electronic platforms. The station posted a brief statement on social media, noting that they would continue to monitor the situation as more information becomes available. As of Monday, Zorn was still listed as the news director on KAFF News’ website.
Zorn also served as a part-time faculty member at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in the School of Communication. According to NAU officials, Zorn was teaching a journalism class at the time of his arrest. Kim Ott, NAU’s associate vice president for communications, confirmed that Zorn’s class has been reassigned to another instructor for the remainder of the semester. Zorn has been removed from all university work.
The charge of luring a minor for sexual exploitation is a class 3 felony in Arizona, carrying a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison. Zorn’s arraignment has yet to be scheduled.
Zorn, a graduate of NAU and St. Johns High School in Apache County, has had a long career in local media, where he was especially active reporting on wildfires and other regional news.
