Five Madison County Jail Inmates Charged with Mob Action

Attack on fellow inmate leads to additional felony charges

EDWARDSVILLE, IL – Five inmates at Madison County Jail, all awaiting trial for serious felonies such as murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery, now face additional charges after allegedly attacking another inmate.

Inmates Involved
Those charged on Feb. 27 with mob action (Class 4 felony) include:

Raysean M. Colvin, 20 (Alton)
Damion D. Weeden Sr., 44 (Alton)
John A. Hammond Jr., 44 (Alton)
Lamaure A. Hickman, 20 (Granite City)
Vernon G. McIntosh, 39 (St. Louis)
Incident Details
According to Madison County Sheriff’s Department, the attack occurred on Jan. 27 inside the jail. Chief Deputy Marcos Pulido stated that all six inmates were housed in the same cell block, and the altercation stemmed from a disagreement.

Despite the violence, all inmates refused medical attention following the incident.

The case remains under investigation as the defendants await trial on their original charges.
