JACKSON, MS — A shootout between two groups on Redwood Drive in Jackson on August 2 resulted in five arrests, extensive property damage, and one person hospitalized.
The Jackson Police Department (JPD) responded at approximately 7:02 p.m. after reports of gunfire in the 4500 block of Redwood Drive. Witnesses reported multiple suspects exchanging gunfire, with several vehicles and nearby homes hit by stray bullets.
Investigators say the conflict began between two groups en route to a private party on Sundew Place. As tensions escalated, shots were fired, causing significant damage along the route.
JPD’s Mobile Crime Unit recovered numerous shell casings during the investigation. Four suspects were apprehended near Sundew Place, while a fifth suspect, who sustained a gunshot wound during the altercation, was taken to a hospital.
The arrested individuals face charges of Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling and include:

Jamorris Lewis, 21 (also charged with Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm)

Rushoderic Williams, 19
Authorities confirmed that more arrests and charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.
