In a major drug bust, five individuals, including three college students, were arrested by Choolaimedu police on charges of smuggling and selling illicit drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and original Ganja (OG). The police successfully seized 51 grams of methamphetamine during the operation.

The arrests were made after a tip-off regarding a group selling synthetic drugs targeting college students. Acting on the information, the Choolaimedu police, under the leadership of the local police team, monitored the activities of the suspects. This led to the arrest of Nalin Fasid (32), who provided crucial details about the operation. Based on his confession, three college students—An-Riyan Soni (19), Mikan (20), and Ayan Khan (23)—along with Mayur (35) were arrested.

A subsequent search of the students’ rooms uncovered 51 grams of cocaine, 850 grams of Ganja, and 3 grams of OG. The drugs had a combined value worth lakhs. The five arrested individuals were brought before a magistrate and remanded into judicial custody.

The Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) is continuing to investigate the drug network behind the syndicate. The authorities are now focusing on tracing the suspects’ mobile phone call logs and are seeking the court’s approval to take key individuals into custody for further interrogation.

This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts to curb the spread of drugs, particularly among the youth, and law enforcement’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks involved in trafficking and distribution.
