Ujjain police have arrested five individuals involved in a fraudulent land sale using forged documents and fake Aadhaar cards in the name of a deceased woman. The accused were produced before court and remanded to police custody for three days.

The complaint, filed on February 13, 2024, revealed that the deceased, Lilabai of Jabaroda Nathu, passed away in 2003. She was the rightful owner of 1.56 hectares of agricultural land, which was illegally sold by a woman impersonating her.

Investigations showed that Ramlal alias Ramsingh Bodana and his mother Sitabai alias Shaitan Bai from Vandi Lodha forged documents and an Aadhaar card in Lilabai’s name. They executed the fake sale and registered the land on December 27, 2023, at the Badnir Registrar’s Office in Ujjain.

Following this, police registered a case under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using forged document), 120-B (criminal conspiracy), and 34 (common intention).

Sitabai was arrested and presented to court, while other suspects — Rajvendra Singh, Majhapal Singh, Javiya, Kudash Ali, and Laxminarayan, all from Indore — are in custody undergoing interrogation. Police continue to gather evidence and investigate further accomplices.
