LAREDO, Tex. — Fernando Borrego, 36, and Laura Stephany Zamarripa, 24, were arrested in connection with an armed robbery during a domestic dispute on San Jorge Street, the Laredo Police Department reported.
Officers responded on January 16 to a call from the 1600 block of San Jorge Street. The complainant said Borrego and Zamarripa assaulted him and his female friend after Borrego, who had been permitted to stay at the residence, became involved in a verbal dispute over the female friend.
During the confrontation, Borrego allegedly grabbed a knife, threatened the complainant, and punched him multiple times. Zamarripa reportedly struck the female friend with a wooden stick while Borrego also punched and kicked her. Borrego then allegedly stole the female friend’s purse.
Both suspects fled the scene in a white van but were later located in the 800 block of Hidalgo Street, where police arrested them. They each face charges of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.
