In Florida, a tragic incident occurred when 18-month-old Sebastian Gardner died after being left alone inside a vehicle for over three hours during a severe heat wave. The inside temperature of the car reportedly reached 43 degrees Celsius, leading to fatal heatstroke.
Local authorities arrested Sebastian’s father, 33-year-old Scott Alan Gardner, on June 6th. He faces charges of child neglect resulting in manslaughter and serious bodily harm. According to police reports, Gardner left his son unattended while stopping at a nearby barbershop before going to a bar named Hanky Finky Lounge.
Medical examiners confirmed that the cause of death was asphyxia and heatstroke due to the extreme temperature inside the vehicle. Police also reported that Gardner provided false statements during the investigation. Notably, the same officer who attempted CPR on Sebastian was the one who arrested Gardner.
Gardner is currently in custody while further investigations continue. Officials have promised to release additional details as the case progresses.
