Fardy Robles, 20, of Antioch, has been arrested along with two 16-year-old boys after a coordinated retail theft and multiple police pursuits across San Mateo County on Monday, authorities said.
According to a police press release, the incident began around 3:27 p.m. at the Safeway store on S. El Camino Real and 17th Avenue in San Mateo’s Hayward Park neighborhood. Two teenage suspects entered the store and stole approximately $1,200 in alcoholic beverages, fleeing in a silver Audi sedan allegedly driven by Robles.
Later that day, the same group targeted another Safeway store in a nearby city, stealing an additional $2,500 worth of products. Police from multiple jurisdictions attempted traffic stops, but the suspects evaded officers at high speeds before finally being apprehended.
Robles was booked into the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City on charges including grand theft, conspiracy, evading police, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The two juveniles were arrested for grand theft and conspiracy, and later released to the custody of their parents or guardians.
Authorities say the suspects were involved in coordinated retail theft, a growing concern for law enforcement in the region.
