Fall River Man Arrested for Drug Charges After Fleeing Traffic Stop

Miguel Saavedra faces multiple charges following drug discovery

FALL RIVER, Mass. — 43-year-old Miguel Saavedra, a Fall River man, is facing drug-related charges after fleeing a traffic stop on Tuesday.

Police initiated a traffic stop, but Saavedra abruptly exited the vehicle and fled the scene. Officers pursued him briefly on foot and successfully apprehended him.

During a search of Saavedra’s vehicle, police discovered a plastic bag containing a white substance believed to be crack cocaine, along with 81 blue glassine bags containing a substance believed to be fentanyl. They also found drug distribution paraphernalia, such as a digital scale and a box of plastic sandwich bags.

Saavedra was arrested and charged with:

Operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license

Trafficking cocaine

Possession with intent to distribute

Saavedra is currently in custody as the investigation continues.
