In a shocking child trafficking case in Patan district, Gujarat, police have arrested three individuals, including a fake doctor, and rescued a newborn child. The arrested suspects are Suresh Thakor, a fake doctor, Shilpa Thakor, a nurse, and Roop Singh Thakor, a compounder. A major search operation is also underway to locate another deceased child, who was allegedly buried by the accused on the banks of the Banas River.
Patan Police SP Dr. Ravindra Patel confirmed the arrests and stated that the newborn rescued from the suspects’ possession was sent to a rehabilitation center for care. The trio was presented in court and remanded to police custody for further investigation.
The crime began at Sanskar Hospital in Thara city, where Roop Singh Thakor sold a child to Suresh Thakor, the fake doctor, and Shilpa Thakor, the nurse. The child was then sold for Rs 1.20 lakh to a couple, Nirav Modi and his wife. However, when the child became ill, the couple returned the infant to Thakor, who later abandoned the child near a village along the Palanpur Disa highway.
The child was discovered by locals, and the police were alerted. Investigations led to the arrest of the suspects. During interrogation, Suresh Thakor revealed that they had buried another child near the Banas River in Dadar village. A search and excavation were carried out by the police and FSL team, but no remains were found.
Suresh Thakor and Shilpa Thakor have been remanded to police custody until December 2, while Roop Singh Thakor is under remand until December 3. The investigation is ongoing.
