Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered a quantity of charas-like contraband during a checkpoint operation in Kupwara, North Kashmir.
The operation was carried out by a team from Police Station Trehgam near Shumnag, where a suspicious individual attempted to flee upon noticing the police. He was quickly apprehended, and a search led to the recovery of the illegal substance.
The accused has been identified as Faisal Ahmad Parray, son of Wali Mohammad Parray, a resident of Trehgam, Kupwara. Police registered a case under FIR No. 24/2025 at Police Station Trehgam under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.
Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the source and distribution network of the seized substance.
