Fairfield Man Arrested for Vandalizing Plants in New Haven

Samuel Montalvo Faces Charges After Causing $3,000 in Damage

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 40-year-old Fairfield man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly uprooting plants and saplings in downtown New Haven. Samuel Montalvo was seen around 6:26 a.m. pulling plants from the ground along Temple Street and Chapel Street.

According to police, Montalvo caused approximately $3,000 worth of damage to the landscaping. Officers responded to the scene, located at 900 Chapel St., where the Downtown Ambassador’s program is based.

Montalvo was charged with first-degree criminal mischief and interfering with an officer. He was held on a $10,000 bond.
