WALKER COUNTY, GA. — Amy Kathleen Bradley, a former Lieutenant at the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, has pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars from citation payments, according to the Lookout Mountain District Attorney’s Office.
On February 27th, Bradley entered a guilty plea to charges of theft involving the misappropriation of funds from citation payments made by individuals in Walker County.
The investigation began in June 2021 when authorities suspected Bradley, who was assigned to the Walker County Jail, of taking money from cash payments for citations issued in the county.
Special Agent Daniel Nicholson of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was assigned to the case. His investigation revealed that between 2018 and 2022, Bradley had been pocketing funds from citation payments. During an interview, Bradley confessed to the illegal activity.
As a result of the investigation, Bradley faced several charges, including theft by taking and theft by conversion.
As part of a plea agreement, Bradley was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with the first 4 years to be served in prison. Additionally, she was ordered to pay over $70,000 in restitution to Walker County. Furthermore, she was required to forfeit all law enforcement certifications and is barred from holding any future positions involving money handling or collection.
