In a significant bust, the District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) and local police arrested a former Plus-Two school teacher near Thrissur railway station for possession of MDMA, a powerful synthetic drug.
The accused, Ragil, aged 29 and a native of Thuvakkunnu in Kannur, was found carrying 70 grams of MDMA, also known as “ecstasy” on the street.
The arrest took place during a joint anti-narcotics operation, as DANSAF intensifies its crackdown on synthetic drugs across Kerala.
Police say Ragil, once employed as a higher secondary school teacher, may have links to local drug distribution networks. His background as an educator has raised further concern about how deep synthetic drug influence may run in Kerala’s youth circles.
Authorities are now investigating whether Ragil acted alone or was part of a larger racket operating between Kannur and Thrissur. His mobile phone and digital devices have been seized for forensic analysis.
The accused will be booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and a local magistrate is expected to hear the case shortly.
