An ex-serviceman, Prakalathan (50), from Paraiyanvilai near Arumanai in Kanniyakumari district, was arrested for allegedly bludgeoning his sister-in-law, K. Vasantha (53), to death.
Police reported that a dispute arose between Prakalathan and Vasantha, a widow residing in the same locality, over the use of a common path. On Monday, during an altercation, Prakalathan allegedly attacked Vasantha with a club, inflicting severe head injuries.
Vasantha was admitted to a private medical college hospital in Kulasekaram, where she succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday evening.
Following a complaint from Vasantha’s son, Vivek, the Arumanai police arrested Prakalathan on Wednesday.
