In a dramatic fall from grace, a former real estate businessman turned thief has been arrested by Varthur police in Bengaluru. The accused, Muniraja T, 33, a resident of Venkatapura in Koramangala, had been in the real estate business for over a decade before falling into debt and turning to crime.
Police apprehended Muniraja on September 20 while investigating the theft of a two-wheeler belonging to G Suresh, a resident of Gunjur. During interrogation, Muniraja confessed to stealing two-wheelers and LPG cylinders from residential and commercial areas across the city.
According to police, Muniraja had suffered severe financial losses in his real estate business, which led him into debt. To make ends meet, he began targeting parked vehicles and unattended gas cylinders.
Upon his arrest, police recovered:
11 stolen two-wheelers
20 stolen LPG cylinders
Muniraja admitted to hiding the stolen bikes behind an apartment complex in Gunjur village and selling the LPG cylinders through accomplices. Police have linked him to theft cases across Varthur, KG Halli, Mahadevapura, and Viveknagar.
Authorities continue to investigate the involvement of his aides and any links to organized theft rings.
