A former BJP office-bearer in Haridwar was arrested for allegedly allowing her boyfriend and others to sexually abuse her 13-year-old daughter. The woman’s partner, Sumit Patwal, has also been taken into custody, while police continue searching for another accused.
According to Paramendra Doval, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Haridwar, the minor accused her mother of facilitating the abuse. After the girl underwent a medical examination, the charges were confirmed. “Strict action will be taken against all those involved,” assured the SSP.
The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other applicable laws. The accused woman was separated from her husband, and her daughter had been living with her father. The abuse came to light when the child confided in her father about the ordeal.
Following the complaint, authorities acted promptly, conducting medical tests and arresting the mother and her boyfriend. The BJP Haridwar unit distanced itself from the former leader, with district president Ashutosh Sharma stating she was relieved of party duties last August and currently holds no post.
