EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — A 44-year-old Evansville man with a long criminal history has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession, federal authorities announced.
Troy Ogburn, described by officials as a “career criminal,” was convicted on charges including:
Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl
Being a felon in possession of a firearm
Major Drug Bust in October 2024
The investigation into Ogburn began in October 2024, when agents from the DEA Evansville Resident Office and the Evansville Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force began suspecting that he was distributing large quantities of narcotics from his apartment.
On October 24, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant and uncovered:
Large quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine
Multiple firearms
Cash
Drug ledgers detailing transactions
Shortly after, Ogburn was arrested during a traffic stop, where additional cash and another drug ledger were found.
Because of his prior felony convictions, Ogburn was prohibited by law from possessing firearms.
