Evansville Couple Arrested on Drug Dealing Charges After Traffic Stop and Apartment Search

Montonez Williams and Meredith Hodges-Scarbrough Arrested in Connection to Meth and Fentanyl Distribution

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) — Montonez Williams and his girlfriend Meredith Hodges-Scarbrough were arrested this week in Evansville on serious drug dealing charges. The couple was taken into custody on Monday following a traffic stop that uncovered illicit substances.

The investigation began in January, when police received a tip that Williams was allegedly selling meth in the area of the 1400 block of Cumberland Avenue. According to police, a confidential informant was used to purchase drugs from Williams as part of the ongoing investigation.

During a felony traffic stop on Monday morning, officers reportedly discovered marijuana, cutting agents, fentanyl, scales, a glass pipe, and a baggy with residue inside the vehicle.

Further investigation led officers to the couple’s apartment, where additional items were found, including scales, plastic bags, marijuana, 9mm ammunition, a firearm, and a jar containing an unknown white powder.

As a result of the search and findings, Montonez Williams faces multiple charges, including:

Dealing Cocaine or Narcotic Drugs

Manufacturing/Dealing Methamphetamine

Maintaining a Common Nuisance

Obstruction of Justice

Dealing Schedule I, II, or III Substances

Possession of Firearm by Serious Violent Felon

Meanwhile, Meredith Hodges-Scarbrough faces charges of:

Maintaining a Common Nuisance

Dealing Schedule I, II, or III Substances

Dealing Cocaine or Narcotic Drugs
