LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife in the Valley Station neighborhood on September 14, Louisville Metro Police announced.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 4100 block of Autumn Way. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman with fatal throat injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was later identified as Ariannas Hernandez Rivera. Her husband, Eugenio Santoya Sanchez, has been charged with murder, first-degree strangulation, and tampering with physical evidence.

According to the arrest warrant, video surveillance contradicted Sanchez’s initial statement to detectives about his timeline. Footage showed him arriving at the trailer home earlier than claimed and being the last person seen there before Rivera was found dead.

After the homicide, Sanchez was observed placing something into the trunk of his vehicle and driving away. When later interviewed by police, he was still wearing the same clothing seen in the footage and had a hand injury consistent with being caused by a sharp-edged object.

Sanchez remains in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
