San Jose police have arrested a 28-year-old man, Eugene Pickett, in connection with a homicide that occurred earlier this week.
The incident began on Sunday when officers responded to a report of an unconscious man bleeding outside a business in the 100 block of Tully Road. The victim showed clear signs of being assaulted and was transported to a hospital with initially non-life-threatening injuries.
Further investigation revealed that the victim had been robbed and beaten. Eugene Pickett was identified as the suspect, and police obtained a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody the next day in San Jose and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, and elder abuse.
However, the case escalated when the victim succumbed to his injuries the following day. San Jose homicide detectives secured a new warrant for Pickett on homicide charges, which was served while he was still in custody.
This incident marks the ninth homicide in San Jose in 2025.
