Tirana, Albania – Ervin Tavanxhi, 37, known for his past involvement in drug trafficking and theft, was arrested on Saturday evening while attempting to steal a vehicle’s navigation system on Myslym Shyri Street.
Tavanxhi, the son of former Democratic Party MP Kozma Tavanxhi, is no stranger to police as he was previously convicted twice for drug trafficking and theft committed in collaboration. He was caught red-handed by police during the attempted theft and found in possession of tools including a screwdriver and a set of seven keys used to commit the crimes.
Police reports state that Tavanxhi is suspected of at least four other thefts involving vehicle accessories such as mirrors, batteries, and navigation systems.
Ervin’s criminal history dates back to 2006 when he was arrested as part of the “Poter Al” drug gang, which trafficked drugs across Italy and Western Europe. He served a 10-year prison sentence before resuming criminal activities related to theft.
In 2015, he was sentenced again to 1 year and 2 months in prison for theft in collaboration. Despite serving his sentence, Tavanxhi continued his criminal path.
