Erode: Three individuals, including two women, were arrested by Erode Taluk police in connection with a recent burglary at Moolapalayam, where gold ornaments weighing 11.5 sovereigns were stolen.

The burglary occurred on the night of February 3 at the residence of Arulkumaran when the house was unoccupied. His wife, Hema, lodged a complaint, prompting police to register a case and form a special investigation team led by Inspector M Saravanan.

On suspicion, police picked up Naveen alias Naveenkumar, 31, of Akkarai Kodiveri, for questioning. Naveen, who had been involved in painting the complainant’s house at the recommendation of a neighbour, confessed to breaking in and stealing the gold ornaments.

Police further revealed that the stolen gold was handed over to Vasuki, 22, wife of Prabhu from Shastri Nagar, with the help of her mother-in-law, M Kuppammal, 60, of Moolapalayam. All three accused were taken into custody as the investigation continues.
