In a swift action by Erode police, four men have been arrested for robbing a man of Rs 47,000 and two mobile phones in Kanchikoil, Erode district.
The arrested individuals are:
S Nikath (26) of Marapalam
N Bahadur Rahman (29) of Karaivaikkal area
M Tharanitharan (26) of Saravanampatti, Coimbatore
T Sanjay Kishore (25) of Kanchikoil
According to police, the incident occurred on September 9, when M Gokula Kannan (34), a driver at a private milk company in Perundurai, was travelling on his two-wheeler to work. A man requested a lift, and once on board, he threatened Kannan with a knife. His accomplices soon appeared, assaulted Kannan, and forced him to transfer Rs 47,000 via GPay, while also snatching two mobile phones.
Gokula Kannan sustained serious injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Nasiyanur. Following his complaint, Kanchikoil police registered a case, conducted an investigation, and arrested the suspects. They have been remanded to judicial custody.
Police continue their vigilance in the area to prevent similar incidents.
