A 26-year-old courier delivery man, identified as Arun, was arrested by the Modakkurichi police on charges of stealing gold jewellery from a house in Nanjai Uthukuli, Modakkurichi taluk, in Erode district. The incident took place on September 9 when Madhan, aged 31, along with his wife, returned home from Tiruchengode to find the front door lock of his house broken and the jewellery missing from the almirah.
Madhan filed a complaint with the Modakkurichi police, who quickly launched an investigation that led to the arrest of Arun, a resident of Nochipalayam in 46 Pudur panchayat. The police recovered the stolen jewellery and also seized a two-wheeler used by the accused. Arun admitted to the crime, stating that he had suffered financial losses in the share market, which prompted him to commit the theft.
