The Excise Department has arrested Ansar, a 31-year-old man from Kakkanad, for allegedly supplying MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) to residents in Ernakulam and Kakkanad areas. According to the officers, Ansar was also involved in distributing drugs to Infopark employees and students.
Ansar was intercepted on Monday while transporting 9.290 grams of MDMA on his bike in Satellite Township, Kakkanad West, during an operation conducted by the Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special Squad, led by Excise Inspector KP Pramod.
Officers reported that Ansar was also selling drugs to young people living in resorts in urban areas, leading a luxurious lifestyle fueled by the money earned from the illegal drug trade.
The excise team has launched an investigation into his suppliers of MDMA, following some leads obtained during the raid. In addition to Inspector Pramod, the operation involved Assistant Excise Inspector ON Ajayakumar, Preventive Officer M Shihabuddin, and several other excise officers, including Sreejith MT, Afsal, and Woman Civil Excise Officer M Latha.
Further investigation is underway as the team continues to track down the suppliers of MDMA in the area.
