Erin Ranee Young, the former coordinator of the Floyd County Drug Court, was sentenced last week to two years in prison after pleading guilty to felony sexual contact with a participant in the program under her supervision.
Prosecutors revealed that Young, 39, engaged in a sexual relationship with the participant and provided him with special treatment that was not extended to others in the program.
During sentencing, defense attorney Wade Hoyt explained that Young was facing personal hardships, including a divorce and caring for her terminally ill father. He requested leniency, emphasizing her previously clean record and the significant losses she has endured, such as losing her job, home, and financial stability.
Judge Bryan Johnson allowed Young several days to settle her affairs before beginning her prison sentence.
Reports indicate the inappropriate relationship took place between July 8, 2021, and November 4, 2022. Young was charged with sexual assault by a law enforcement agency employee.
Authorities are continuing to gather information, and further updates will be provided as they become available.
