Eric Holtz Arrested in Davenport with Stolen Vehicle, Meth, and Burglary Tools
Holtz faces multiple charges after police uncover meth and burglary tools.
Eric Holtz, 33, of Eldridge, is currently being held at the Scott County Jail after he was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle and possessing methamphetamine and burglary tools. The arrest occurred on Monday, November 18, when Davenport Police took Holtz into custody for outstanding warrants around 12:15 p.m.
During a search, officers found less than one gram of methamphetamine in Holtz’s pants pocket, which he admitted was meth. A field test confirmed the substance as methamphetamine. Holtz was driving a 2023 Dodge Challenger, which had been reported stolen out of Davenport. With Holtz’s consent, the vehicle was searched, and officers discovered a plastic bag containing 3.35 grams of methamphetamine in the driver’s side door, along with a large metal pry bar on the floorboard.
In an interview, Holtz admitted using the pry bar to break into a property during a burglary.
Earlier that day, Davenport Police had responded to a report of a wanted person driving a vehicle in the 5200 block of Elmore Avenue. Officers blocked in the car and confirmed Holtz was the driver. Holtz, who had the keys to the car, admitted to knowing the vehicle was stolen and had placed plates from another dealership on it to hide its origin. The stolen vehicle is valued at $34,395.
Holtz is facing several charges and remains in the Scott County Jail on a $38,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on November 26.
