
MURRAY COUNTY, Ga. — Two men are behind bars following a multi-agency narcotics investigation in Murray County that led to the discovery of a large stash of drugs, a firearm, and cash, authorities announced Wednesday.
Eric Hefner, of Dalton, Georgia, and Jonathan Powell, of Knoxville, Tennessee, were arrested on June 10 after an extended operation conducted by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division.
During the arrests, investigators seized:
35 grams of methamphetamine
6 pounds of marijuana
86 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
One firearm
$5,238 in cash

Eric Hefner is charged with:
Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
Felony possession of marijuana
Possession of a Schedule I substance (psilocybin)
Jonathan Powell faces more extensive charges, including:
Trafficking methamphetamine
Possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute
Possession of a Schedule I substance (psilocybin)
Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
Felony possession of marijuana
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
Authorities also confirmed active arrest warrants for Powell out of Knox County, Tennessee.
The Murray County Sheriff’s Office praised the successful collaboration between agencies and emphasized its commitment to targeting drug trafficking operations in the region. The investigation is ongoing.
