Silicon Valley CEO Andrei Karkar Arrested on Multiple Charges in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Andrei Karkar, 47, the CEO of ERAS Holdings, was arrested in downtown San Francisco on Saturday, February 3, 2025, following accusations of sexual assault and multiple other charges.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers responded to a call just after 9 a.m. regarding a sexual assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, they met with the victim, a woman who claimed that she had been forcibly raped and assaulted by Karkar. The woman was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
Following an investigation, Karkar was identified as the suspect in the assault. The charges against him include rape by force or violence, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree robbery, and damaging a wireless communication device.
Karkar was booked into the San Francisco County Jail but was later released after his attorney, Eric Safire, confirmed that the district attorney’s office had dropped the case. Safire stated that Karkar was detained unnecessarily and denied bond. At the time of writing, the San Francisco district attorney’s office had not commented on the dropped charges.
While the arrest has been made, the investigation is still ongoing, with the SFPD Special Victims Unit continuing to probe the case.
Andrei Karkar, a Georgetown University graduate, has been active in various think tanks and philanthropic initiatives. His father, Edward Karkar, founded Karkar Electronics in 1959, a prominent telecommunications company known for developing state-of-the-art communications technology.
