SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — A New York woman and her boyfriend were arrested in Springfield, Illinois, after police uncovered a plot to kill her father.
On February 21, Springfield police received a report that Emily Getman, 21, had traveled to the city with plans to murder her father. Officers were alerted that Getman was near the Goodwill on North Dirksen Parkway.
Police located and stopped the vehicle, finding Getman and her boyfriend, Dylan Romer, 29, inside. A search of the vehicle uncovered a 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, and several knives, according to authorities.
Getman was taken to Memorial Medical Center under an involuntary admission and now faces multiple charges, including:
Aggravated battery
Conspiracy to commit first-degree murder
Unlawful use of a weapon
Aggravated assault with a firearm
Aggravated battery of a nurse on duty
Criminal damage to property
Romer was granted pre-trial release and is charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. The investigation remains ongoing.
