by Sophia Bennett

VACAVILLE, Calif. — Emelda Miles, 50, was arrested Friday evening at the Vacaville Premium Outlets for stealing clothing totaling approximately $700. She was accompanied by Antoinique Bryant, 38.

Authorities say Miles, who has three outstanding felony warrants for burglary, grand theft, and organized retail theft (one with a $100,000 bail), jumped into a waiting vehicle after allegedly stealing items. Patrol officers, with assistance from dispatch and the Real-Time Information Center, located the vehicle entering westbound Interstate 80 and stopped it. Stolen merchandise was found in plain view.

Both Miles and Bryant were booked into Solano County Jail on charges related to shoplifting and conspiracy. The vehicle used in the theft was towed.

The Vacaville Police Department announced additional officers will be deployed to busy shopping areas during the holiday season as retail theft increases.
