LINCOLN, Neb. — Ember Bravo, 32, a Grand Island woman and former office manager at Willow Rising, has been arrested in connection with embezzlement from the nonprofit organization.
Willow Rising is a crisis center dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. In May, staff discovered that two cash deposits totaling $1,881 were missing.
According to court documents, the missing deposits were placed in a safe within Bravo’s office but were never taken to the bank. This led to an arrest warrant being issued for her on Friday.
Bravo was charged with theft by unlawful taking and booked into the Hall County Jail. Her first court appearance has not yet been scheduled.
