ELMIRA, N.Y. — Jacob S. Bulkley, 19, of Elmira, has been indicted on multiple felony charges following a hammer attack on a family member in November.
A Chemung County grand jury formally charged Bulkley with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, and second-degree assault. The charges stem from an incident on November 13, 2024, when Bulkley allegedly struck a victim in the head with a hammer. The Elmira Police Department responded to the scene at a residence on Magee Street around 10:18 p.m. and found the victim with multiple head injuries.
Although the victim was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, the case has escalated due to the severity of the attack and the family connection. Bulkley was initially charged with first-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child but has now been indicted on more serious charges.
Officers arrested Bulkley less than an hour after the incident, and he was taken into custody without resistance. The investigation was aided by the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and local emergency services.
Bulkley now faces a trial for the serious charges, and his case is being closely monitored by local authorities.
