CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. – Prince George’s County Police have arrested and charged 24-year-old Elijah Kamara in connection with the fatal shooting of Morris Haskins Jr., 43, of Washington, D.C., thanks to a tip submitted to Prince George’s County Crime Solvers.

The deadly shooting occurred on November 8, 2024, around 5:50 p.m. Officers from the Maryland-National Capital Park Police and the PGPD responded to the 7700 block of Walker Mill Road for reports of gunfire. At the scene, they found Haskins Jr. outside with a gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Following a detailed investigation, detectives identified Kamara as the suspect and secured an arrest warrant on February 3, 2025. Kamara, who has no fixed address, was apprehended on April 14, 2025, after an officer from the Westphalia Division VIII stopped a vehicle at Walters Lane and Chavez Lane. Kamara, a passenger, attempted to flee but was quickly taken into custody without further incident.

Preliminary findings suggest that Kamara shot Haskins Jr. during an argument. Authorities confirmed that the two men were known to each other.

Kamara is currently being held by the Department of Corrections and faces charges including first-degree murder and related offenses.

The Prince George’s County Police Department continues to investigate all homicides occurring within Maryland-National Capital Park Police jurisdiction. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact PGPD’s Homicide Unit at 301-516-2512.
