Eight Arrested in Purnia Lottery Racket Bust

Over 22,000 illegal tickets seized in major crackdown

In a major crackdown on illegal gambling, the K Haat Police in Purnia district arrested eight individuals on Monday for running an illegal lottery racket. The arrests were made in Prabhat Colony’s Hanuman Bagh area, a hub for the unlawful operations.

Police seized:

22,000 fake lottery tickets

Rs64,930 in cash

9 mobile phones

1 car

3 motorbikes

According to K Haat SHO Uday Kumar, the accused sourced lottery tickets from West Bengal and sold them illegally across the city. The operation reportedly earned significant profits by bypassing legal systems and exploiting local demand.

The police have launched further investigations and anticipate more arrests as they uncover the network behind the racket.
