A Florence woman, Effie Mae Willing, 56, was arrested Thursday on charges of insurance fraud, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
Willing allegedly filed false claims with Progressive Insurance, stating that her camper and two all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) were stolen on May 19. The total claimed value was $10,000 or more.
Investigators say witnesses confirmed that Willing knew the vehicles’ actual locations and that they had not been stolen. During a recorded call with Progressive, she admitted to making false statements regarding the thefts.
She was booked into the Florence County Detention Center following the arrest.
