A Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an arrest warrant for Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the manager of Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. The warrant was granted following a motion filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing Onyedikachukwu of diverting $345,000 in royalties that were meant for Chinwo.
The EFCC alleges that Onyedikachukwu improperly received royalties from Mercy Chinwo’s digital platforms and events, failing to disclose the funds or pay her the appropriate share. EFCC investigator Michael Idoko confirmed that a petition was filed by Mercy Chinwo herself, accusing her manager of financial misconduct. Following this, the court granted the EFCC’s application and scheduled Onyedikachukwu’s arraignment for January 24, 2025. If he cannot be located, the EFCC will issue a public summons to declare him wanted.
This legal development comes shortly after Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa, gained attention for their charitable efforts in Rumudara village, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
