SANTA FE, N.M. – Four people have been arrested after a violent robbery setup in Santa Fe that left a local man assaulted and carjacked.
According to Santa Fe police, the victim was lured to an area near I-25 and St. Francis on Friday morning under the impression he was meeting a woman. Instead, he encountered two men and two women, who allegedly assaulted him and stole his 1995 Geo Metro.
The two male suspects reportedly hit the man with a gun before fleeing in the stolen car. A joint effort by tribal police and Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputies led to the suspects being located near Pojoaque.
All four suspects have been charged with armed robbery or conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Additional charges were filed against some of the individuals:
Edward Lucio, with prior arrests for drug possession, theft, and burglary
Christopher Varela, previously accused of battery, assault, and child abuse
Consuelo Ortega, with a history of felony shoplifting
Mari Bella Amor Gonzales, also charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
