A Rome man, 45-year-old Edward Hector, was arrested in New Hartford on January 14, following a larceny incident at a Burlington store in December.

At 10 p.m. on December 11, New Hartford Police responded to a report of a larceny in progress at Consumer Square. Updates from the Oneida County 911 Center indicated the suspect was outside the store, assaulting an employee. Upon arrival, officers found that the suspect had fled, leaving behind stolen clothing.

Despite a search of the surrounding area and the collection of statements and surveillance footage, the suspect was not immediately located. The employee who confronted the suspect suffered minor injuries.

On January 14, while investigating a separate larceny at Walmart, NHPD officers located Hector and arrested him. Initially charged with petit larceny, further investigation led to felony robbery and felony assault charges related to the December Burlington incident.

Hector was arraigned and taken to the Oneida County Jail, where he awaits a felony hearing.
