An East London drug gang has been dismantled, with members sentenced to over 33 years in total behind bars after police uncovered their use of children to distribute crack cocaine. City of London Police seized a sawn-off shotgun, silencer, and over £45,000 worth of Class A drugs, including crack and heroin, during the operation.
Mohammed Abdul Bakye, 45, of Rotherhithe, was found to be the leader of the group, which trafficked drugs through the ‘Reeko’ and ‘Green Eyes’ lines in and around the City of London between May 2022 and August 2023. Bakye was sentenced to 15 years in prison for conspiracy to supply drugs and possession of a prohibited firearm. Following his release, he will be subject to strict conditions under a Serious Crime Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Jared Fortune stated: “This was a comprehensive investigation that led to the dismantling of a dangerous crime group. In doing so, we have prevented tens of thousands of pounds of Class A drugs from reaching London’s streets. Bakye and his gang exploited vulnerable people, including children, to distribute crack and heroin in the area.”
