The East Godavari police have arrested seven individuals involved in illegal betting operations, seizing Rs 1.70 lakh in cash and betting equipment worth Rs 15 lakh. The raid took place on Sunday following a tip-off.
SP Vishal Gunni shared details at a media briefing at the district police office. The CCS police laid a trap and raided the premises of Cheektla Eswara Rao of Yallavari Street, Kakinada, along with six others.
The accused were identified as Dandu Gopalakrishna Raju of Unguturu, West Godavari; K Praveen Kumar of Secunderabad; M Kalyan and A Jagadish Prasad of Bhimavaram; and Kalidindi Raviteja of Unguturu, West Godavari.
Police recovered sophisticated equipment used for cricket betting valued at Rs 15 lakh. Special police teams have been dispatched to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Vizag for further investigation.
