BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) — The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO) has seized over two pounds of fentanyl and a variety of other drugs following an arrest made by the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) on Calvin Rachal, 53.
Rachal was initially taken into custody by BRPD after being found in possession of three pounds of marijuana. Following this arrest, the Sheriff’s Office was alerted, prompting EBRSO agents to secure and execute search warrants at Rachal’s home and another location.
During the search, authorities seized:
2.2 pounds of fentanyl (approximately 13,300 lethal doses)
60 pounds of marijuana
6 packages of THC gummies
$23,386 in cash
A Ruger 9mm handgun
A Taurus .410/45 caliber revolver
A WASR 7.62X39 rifle
A Remington 12 gauge shotgun
Rachal is facing multiple charges, including:
Possession with Intent to Distribute (PWITD) Schedule I Narcotics (marijuana, BRPD)
Two counts of PWITD Schedule I Narcotics (EBRSO)
PWITD Schedule II Narcotics (fentanyl, EBRSO)
Illegal Carrying of a Firearm with Drugs (EBRSO)
