WALDORF, Md. – A months-long manhunt has ended with the arrest of Earl Tyree Porter, 30, of Waldorf, who was wanted in connection with an attempted murder that occurred earlier this year.
On April 14, 2025, a man was shot multiple times in the chest while on October Place in Waldorf. The victim survived after being transported to a local hospital. After an intensive investigation, detectives identified Porter as the primary suspect.
Due to his transient lifestyle, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was brought in to locate and apprehend him. On August 22, members of the task force, along with the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group and Charles County detectives, executed a search warrant in the 3000 block of Gallery Place in Waldorf.
Inside the residence, authorities found Porter along with Damon Justin Dancy, 30, and Dnai Collins, 26 — both also from Waldorf. A search of the home uncovered two stolen semi-automatic handguns, controlled dangerous substances, and other evidence.
Additional checks revealed:
Damon Dancy had three active warrants in Charles County.
Dnai Collins was a fugitive from justice with an active warrant out of Fairfax County, Virginia.
Porter was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and other related offenses. A judge has ordered him held without bond.
On August 25, a judge approved electronic monitoring for Dancy and personal recognizance for Collins.
